You’ll begin your worldwide holiday by joining Oriana in Hong Kong, which boasts one of the busiest ports in the world. Prosperous Brunei, with its immense 1,788-room Sultan’s Palace, and the idyllic beauty of Bali are Oriana’s last two Far Eastern ports of call before you head Down Under.
Visiting some of Australia’s more off-the-beaten-track ports, your first antipodean call is in Darwin, famous for its frontier spirit and legendary Kakadu Park. The glorious Whitsunday Islands, which border the Great Barrier Reef, are magical idyllic isles and the perfect place for pure relaxation. And Brisbane has the fabulous beaches of Australia’s Gold Coast on its doorstep, ideal for surfing and swimming.
Of course, no Australian cruise would be complete without a call at Sydney. Your first glimpse of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, as you sail into this great harbour, is a sight you’ll never forget. With two full days in port you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the city’s host of attractions.
New Zealand gets the in-depth treatment next, as Oriana sails through the mirror-calm waters of its famous Milford Sound, before exploring Christchurch, a city blessed with a strong cultural heritage. Beautiful Wellington overlooks a glittering harbour and behind its gleaming modern skyscrapers is some well-preserved history. And lastly, it’s buzzing Auckland, The City of Sails, with its impressive National Maritime Museum and Sky Tower - at 328 metres, it’s the tallest structure in the southern hemisphere.
