Discover the adventure with stays in a trio of Northern Europe’s finest cities and a Norwegian voyage to the Northern Lights.
Your holiday begins as you fly to Copenhagen for a two night stay. You’ll have time to explore the Nyhavn; a seventeenth century picturesque waterfront area of colourful buildings and the beautiful Rosenborg Castle; home to the glittering Denmark crown jewels.
From here you’ll travel to Bergen where you’ll embark your ship for your cruise along Norway’s spectacular coastline, through dramatic fjords, jagged coastlines and glorious glaciers. Covering a staggering 34 ports and 2,500 nautical miles in just 12 days, you’ll cruise amid the spectacular backdrop of snow-covered peaks, through wildlife –filled fjords and when night falls; past clusters of houses that glow against the inky black sky. You’ll also have the opportunity to join more than 90 excursions that range from mountain hikes, to kayaking and dog sledging.
Cross the Arctic Circle in search of the Northern Lights, an incredible phenomenon that sees a kaleidoscope of colours from swirling milky green to a blazing explosion of fiery violet and pink dance across the night sky. Cruising with Hurtigruten is the best chance of experiencing this magical yet allusive spectacle of nature.
Disembarking in Bergen you’ll have a night in a hotel to experience this medieval city surrounded by beautiful fjords and full of multi-coloured tiny wooden houses before flying to Oslo for a final two night stay. The capital of Norway, Oslo is known for its green spaces, innovative architecture and museums showcasing the cultural side of this unassuming city. Don’t miss the opportunity to sample some authentic Norwegian cuisine – the city is an upcoming culinary destination which offers everything from fantastic coffee to Icelandic-Korean fusion restaurants, hot dogs, pizza and sushi.
MS Finnmarken is beautifully appointed and decorated in the Art Deco style that was fashionable when the first ship with this name was built. Rich colours, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation characteristic of the Art Deco style are found throughout the vessel. MS Finnmarken is also the only Hurtigruten ship with both a swimming pool and Jacuzzi on deck. A defining feature of the vessel is her bow, and from deck 5 you can venture to the very tip of the ship.
